Introduction:
Research Center for Management Cases (the Center) of ZUEL serves as a professional research and teaching service institute with responsibility for carrying out research into business management cases, supporting cases development, and establishing a case database. It dedicates to promoting research into management cases of domestic enterprises and summarizing their management experience so as to develop a top-notch case database.
The Center for Management Cases, starting case development in 2010, assumed its role to conduct business management case teaching earlier at home. Based on the MBA (Master of Business Administration) program’s strength of “distinctive authority, advantage and feature”, as well as an integration of excellent academic resources, the Center for Management Cases is committed to case development and case teaching service with professionalism and prudence. It continues to proactively expand its cooperation and exchanges with a diversity of business schools including Richard Ivey School of Business from University of Western Ontario, Tsinghua SEM China Business Case Center, and College of Business from City University of Hong Kong in order to fully tap advanced management experience of Chinese enterprises and then facilitate the improvement and application of their management theories.
The Center for Management Cases collects a large number of cases, covering 10 topics including strategic management, marketing management, organization behavior and human resources management, management of innovation and entrepreneurship, accounting and control, financial investment, information management and e-commerce, production and operations management, among others, as well as two features: state-owned enterprises (SOEs) reform and asset appraisal. The original case collection, where most of the cases are rooted in the survey and observation of Chinese home-grown enterprises, spans all walks of life and then is applied to teaching.
As a platform for case teaching, the Center for Management Cases promptly activates its response to case use and submission. Having built a bridge between business management education and enterprises, the Center for Management Case has explored more and more available case development objects and gradually developed a case-based operation system ranging over multiple intellectual products. The Center runs an annual case competition for students who have joined MBA or EMBA (Executive Master of Business Administration) programs, and each year obtains approval of 10-20 teaching cases.
Based on past achievements, the Center will take a closer look at the essence of case teaching to explore more high-quality cases that work well for business management case teaching in China. Meanwhile, the Center will promote the internationalization of case development and teaching in a more appropriate and professional manner.
